The pace of expansion in the production of Tesla electric vehicles is clearly ahead of the pace of expansion of the brand's service station network, so the company manager considers it necessary to introduce express service technologies. Most requests must be answered on the same day, and for the more impatient, the possibility of having the car serviced within an hour is being introduced.
As Electrek explains, Elon Musk has long sought the Formula 1 experience in electric vehicle express service. Indeed, in 2015 the company appointed Kenny Handkammer, former chief mechanic for the Red Bull Racing team with over 25 years of experience in Formula 1, as Director of Service Innovation for Kenya. A few years later, he went to work for rival Lucid Motors, but he certainly managed to form some reserve for the future.
Elon Musk said last month that he intends to organize the work of service centers in North America in such a way that they deliver ready-made electric vehicles on the same day in most cases. The analysis carried out by the company's management showed that the main types of repairs of electric vehicles can be carried out during the working day, and two thirds of the cases already meet this standard, provided that the necessary spare parts are available at the service. Musk ended this week with a post about working on more frequent use of the “hourly service”. According to him, the technologies of Formula 1 can and should be applied in the maintenance of the company's electric vehicles. Working faster with customers' machines will enable them to provide them with timely service under conditions of rapid growth in sales volumes.
