Brand launches fully electrified E-JV van in Brazil
The electric vehicle market continues to advance rapidly in Brazil, especially for smaller charging models, which can circulate in urban centers. Because JAC Motors launches the E-JV 5.5 van in the country, with a volumetric capacity of 5.5 m³ and 805 kg of payload. The model has a total gross weight (GWP) of 2.8 tons and has an electric motor with 204 hp and 30.1 mkgf of torque. In addition, the battery has a capacity of 50.2 kWh and a range of up to 300 km.
However, if the E-JV 5.5 van is driven in ECO mode - a system that increases load regeneration during deceleration and braking - this autonomy increases. With the air conditioning off, JAC talks about 350 km of range.
Equipment list...The small van is equipped as standard with direct transmission, air conditioning and electric trio. And it still has steering wheel height adjustment, Auto Hold system, which keeps the brakes locked when stopping at a traffic light, for example. In this way, you save brake components. This system also assists in ramp starting.
First impressions...The new JAC E-JV 5.5 brings a very refined interior, even compared to its bigger brothers. In addition to a panel with nobler material, imitating wood and leather. All controls are at the driver's hand. This superior finishing standard makes sense, as the vehicle will compete in the market with the electric Citroën e-Jumpy, Peugeot e-Expert and Fiat e-Scudo.
By the way, competitors have 100 kWh batteries and autonomy for 330 km. In addition, they are more expensive and start at R$329,990 (local currency).
In addition, the E-JV 5.5 has a tire pressure sensor (TPMS), rear obstacle sensor, front and rear fog lights and 15" aluminum wheels. Allows you to mirror your cell phone. In addition, the driver can download applications such as Waze and Google Maps. The equipment includes a reversing camera.
Our first impression took place in the narrow streets of the Osasco region. That is, in the "natural habitat" of the small van. And he delivers good behavior, even when empty. It's easy to maneuver thanks to the electric steering, which is light even when parking. It is worth mentioning that the reverse camera makes all the difference and, with great images, brings a complete view of the rear.
But torque is its biggest asset. When empty, the electric van quickly responds to requests from the accelerator. However, without consuming a lot of energy. That is, even at 50 km/h, the model runs in efficiency mode, as indicated by the on-board computer.
It is important to note that, at this speed with the air conditioning on, the noise level was only 51 decibels. This, of course, because the measurement was made on a quiet street in the region. That is, without the interference of other vehicles.
An expanding market...According to the president of JAC Motors, Sergio Habib, the model has all the attributes to be successful in the country. This is because of the increasing ESG shares of transport companies. And the growing moment of e-commerce.
"In the commercial vehicle segment, the E-JV 5.5 will sell well, as the segment is expanding. In addition, we have created a very aggressive price positioning. Therefore, we estimate selling around 300 units this year", he says. Habit.
For next year, the executive foresees 600 units of the new vehicle. It is worth noting that the E-JV 5.5 is intended for last mile operations. Thus, your target audience will be the big shipper. Mercado Livre must evaluate the model for its fleet.
However, Sergio Habib sees a sales opportunity for smaller carriers, but which run a lot, including in intercity operations of short distances. The E-JV 5.5 van arrives in November, but as of this Friday (29), it already has reservations.
JAC bets on the commercial electric market...The van is the fifth 100% electric and battery-powered commercial vehicle that JAC Motors brings to the Brazilian market. It debuted in the segment with the iEV1200T, which has already sold 600 units in 2021 and, this year, JAC is projected to have over 1,000 license plates. The truck is offered to the market with a PBT of 8.5 t.
According to Habib, the sales success is due to the stricter demands of large corporations regarding ESG policies. Not by chance, 80% of iEV1200T sales are directed to shippers.
In addition, there is still the VUC iEV350T of 7.5 t of PBT, the larger van iEV750V, of 12 m³ of volumetric capacity. As well as the iEV750Vip van, for 14 passengers. Together, JAC sold 300 units. And next year, the brand expects to reach 700 units.
