Haval Cool Dog: the Chinese jeep with Ford Bronco DNA
Haval, a Chinese brand that belongs to the giant Great Wall Motors, specializes in the SUV segment and has just launched a model that can be considered a Chinese copy of the Ford Bronco: it is the Haval Cool Dog.
The similarities with the American off-roader are quite evident, though not just with the Ford Bronco. It also has a GMC Hummer feel. It measures 4.52 meters long, 1.87 meters wide and 1.74 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.71 meters. Measures similar to the Bronco.
The front shows large round headlights integrated into a grille with vertical blades that gives it a very robust and aggressive look, combined with a black bumper with aluminum protections at the bottom. The profile view is reminiscent of a Hummer, with the muscular wheel arches, the high waistline and the narrow windows. At the rear, the lid has a shape that mimics a spare wheel, as was customary for off-roaders.
Inside, it displays a minimalist panel with a very horizontal design and the prominent presence of a 12.3-inch touchscreen that projects the contents of the multimedia system. Interestingly, the steering wheel design is slightly reminiscent of a Land Rover. The equipment includes a JVC sound system with 18 speakers, including headrests, moldings that imitate carbon fiber and two-tone leather seats.
Regarding the engine, there are no major fanfare. A 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with 185 hp and 275 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission. There is no sign of electrification. Cool Dog will be sold in China from the third quarter of 2022, at a price between 120,000 and 150,000 yuan, equivalent to 96,500 and 120,600 reais (local currency).
