F296 GT3: the newest bolido from the house of Maranello designed for circuits
Ferrari had been talking for some time about the launch of the model intended to replace the successful F488 GT3 (winner of the WEC and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, among other competitions) on the circuits.
A track sports car that has had a long and successful career, with success in the GT categories, but also with its derivative designed for customer programs, such as the different series of the Ferrari Challenge.
But the arrival of the Ferrari F296 GT3 competition is nothing new, as the brand had shown in the past renders of the car, which allowed to imagine what the definitive model would look like.
Now, he's ready to hit the track. In fact, the Italian marque has confirmed that the new F296 GT3 will debut at the 2023 24 Hours of Daytona (as will BMW's Hypercar, the M Hybrid V8).
Among many other things, the F296 GT3 means the return to Ferraris equipped with a 6-cylinder engine, mounted in a center-rear position.
An engine that, like the street F296 GTB, is a 6-cylinder biturbo block with the V open at 120 degrees. Of course, for the occasion it misses the electrical part of the production model, as GT competitions remain purely thermal.
In the words of the brand, both the chassis and the dynamic part of the vehicle are designed to offer “performance and ease of driving for both professional and gentleman drivers”.
Also, from an aerodynamics point of view, the F296 GT3 offers 20% more downforce than the previous model (the aforementioned F488 GT3 Evo), which makes the car more stable in all scenarios.
