Bavarian brand offers subscription plan for seat in South Korea

BMW vehicles are highly functional. However, for base models, some of the features found in older versions are optional. They can be accessed for a fee or by subscribing to the ConnectedDrive app's online store. So, for example, the option of heated seats is now sold.

Enabling the subscription seat heating feature will cost the owner of a BMW in South Korea 24,000 KRW (about $18) per month. If you pay one year in advance, the option will cost you $176, for three years – $283. If this feature is needed on an ongoing basis, its purchase will cost the driver $406.

The software update is downloaded with the air activated heating option, no need to visit the dealer to install the new software. The seat heating feature is available for a free one month trial period.

A similar subscription plan is offered for the heated steering wheel feature. Accessing this feature will cost the driver $10 per month, $92 per year, and $161 if paid immediately for three years. Adding the feature permanently costs $222. The store can also expand the headlights' functionality by turning on the BMW FLA high beam assistant, add additional security systems, and the Drive Recorder.

There are unusual features in BMW ConnectedDrive. For example, the IconicSounds Sport option allows you to play false engine noises through your car's speakers. It doesn't have a monthly or yearly subscription plan, just a permanent purchase for $138.
