Q6 2023: The ''grand-SUV'' gets a new look for the Chinese market
Joint venture SAIC Audi has a new model in its Chinese lineup. This is the Audi Q6 2023, which has nothing to do with the electric Q6 e-tron that will arrive in the west. In fact, this SUV is a Volkswagen Atlas dressed in more luxury and technology.
The ‘German-Chinese’ crossover features a large Singleframe grille with chrome screen and is flanked by vertical air intakes. Both the headlights and the taillights are joined by illuminated strips, the bodywork can be two-tone and the light-alloy wheels are large.
This Q6 is already on sale with two turbocharged gasoline engines. The access to the line is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 265 hp and 400 Nm, while the most powerful is a 6-cylinder, 2.5-liter block, which delivers 299 hp and 500 Nm. With this booster, the car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds.
Audi offers quattro all-wheel drive as standard across the range and adaptive suspension is available. Interestingly, despite its name, it is larger than the Q7 as it measures 5.09 meters long, 2.01 meters wide and 1.78 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.98 meters.
With these dimensions, it is normal for a third row of seats to be introduced. The car can be chosen with six or seven seats. According to SAIC Audi, the maximum load volume is 2,389 litres.
Inside, there's no shortage of 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, or 10.1-inch and 8.6-inch infotainment and climate control screens, respectively. Both the steering wheel and the automatic transmission lever are the same as those of Western Audis.
SAIC Audi offers the 2023 Q6 with its Audi AI Pro technology, which features intelligent parking assistance, adaptive cruise and other cutting-edge driving assistance functions.
The Q6 goes on sale in China with six wheel designs in 19, 20 and 21-inch specs. The SUV can be chosen from eight exterior colors: Crouching Tiger White, Awakened Lion Grey, Flying Dragon Blue, Fulu Brown, Xuanniu Black, Snow Python Silver, Pegasus Blue and a matte brown called Kirin.
Audi has already opened order books in China for the new SUV and is accepting reservations. The entry-level Audi Q6 40 TFSI starts at 500,000 yuan, while the top-tier Q6 50 TFSI Edition One starts at 650,000 yuan.
