RENAULT
Old time hybrid - Renault Clio TCe 100 LPG test
The gas-fired conversion of high-consumption cars flourished in the 1990s. With the rebuilding, which is barbaric in the eyes of many, many have saved a lot on gasoline, and it also turned out that there is no need to be afraid of the dangers of the LPG system either, although these cars are still not welcome in underground garages! Nonetheless, some brands still offer factory-installed kits with standard warranty conditions.
For example, we can find these in the Dacia and Renault range, this time we tested the Clio, which became a more sophisticated small car than its predecessor during the model change, which can be felt in every vibration. In fact, it hardly makes you feel the vibrations, the impression of a particularly serious car. Its seats, materials and chassis also provide a French level of comfort, and although it features some body tilt, its handling and behavior compete with its more sporty-tuned rivals.
This is not a noticeable difference with everyday use, as it requires a great deal of concentration for the driver to be able to differentiate between car gas and petrol. Although it needs petrol for a cold start, which it consumes from a 39-liter tank instead of 42, it switches to LPG on its own after a few hundred meters, and from there relies on a 32-liter gas tank built into the spare wheel. During the test program, we covered almost exactly 400 km on a single charge, with an average of 8.5 liters according to the Clio computer and 7.5 liters based on our measurements, but it is still economical to cover another 650 km with petrol, which 5, We achieved an average consumption of 9 l / 100 km. Whether the set pays for the HUF 300,000 surcharge can only be answered by the price of LPG. Last April, its average price was 264 HUF per liter, it is currently 349 HUF, but we will definitely be able to get it cheaper later than petrol.
