Quantu lança carro elétrico de dois lugares de US$ 13.000

Brand presents its new two-seater K20 electrified hatchback

Suzhou, China-based electric vehicle manufacturer Qiantu has unveiled the two-seater K20 hatchback. The electric car promises acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a range of 500 kilometers. At the same time, the K20 is a very affordable electric car - the cost of the basic configuration when sold in China is just $13,000. The company has already opened access to pre-orders and will announce the start date for sales in the coming months.

Qiantu Motor is an automotive startup founded by the Chinese company CH Auto in 2016. The company became one of the first automakers in the country to obtain a license for the series assembly of electric cars. Initially, Qiantu focused on premium sports and electric vehicles, and immediately after coming out of stealth, it introduced the K50 supercar. However, it managed to sell just over a hundred of these models when Qiantu suspended operations in 2020 due to problems with investors.

The company returned two years later with new funding and a revised strategy. Now, Qiantu is targeting the lower end of the market. The manufacturer hopes to attract consumers through affordable but still powerful electric vehicles. The first car under this plan was the Qiantu K20.

The K20 has frameless doors, while the buyer can choose one of two roof options - a convertible or a monolithic frame. The car has a length of 3,741 mm, a width of 1,624 mm and a height of 1,263 mm, the wheelbase of the K20 is 2,326 mm. The electric car weighs just 780 kilograms. Six color schemes are possible - from strict gray to sporty red-black.

The Qiantu K20 is being assembled in two versions - as a long-range version with one engine and a sport version with two 4WD engines, according to Electrek. At the same time, the long-distance version, which is positioned as the most affordable, can travel up to 500 kilometers on a single charge. At the same time, the twin-engine variant of the Qiantu K20 offers a total power of more than 160kW and a total torque of more than 290Nm, the company said. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in an electric car takes about 4.7 seconds.

Depending on the chosen color, ceiling and configuration, the cost of the Qiantu K20 ranges from US$13,000 to US$22,500. Access to pre-orders is open on the company's official website, information about the start of deliveries will appear later.
