Motorsport is generally a hobby for the super-rich, but the 2022 HPD Civic Si FE1 also offers a track record for less affluent speed fans - the car costs $55,000. Race car deliveries will begin in November this year.
The Civic Si FE1 is a custom version of the model that omits the sunroof, soundproofing, insulation, underbody cladding and seam sealant from the regular Civic.
The novelty retains the 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which has five selectable power levels, depending on the customer's wishes. There is a Borla exhaust pipe that comes out of a pair of tailpipes. There are also Hasport engine mounts.
The Civic Si race car uses a six-speed manual transmission with a heavy-duty 4th gear. It has a self-locking differential. The flywheel and clutch are taken from the regular Civic.
The suspension gains many new details. All four wheels are equipped with dual-adjustable Bilstein shock absorbers. Two spring rates are available. Front camber and wheels are adjustable. The rear has adjustable camber pieces.
The Civic Si FE1 features six-piston Wilwood calipers with Pagid RST3 inserts and slotted rotors. Honda also adds bumper-mounted cooling ducts and stainless steel braided hoses. The back uses stock parts with Pagid RST4 pads and braided hoses.
