Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar: the racing prototype of the American brand that will be in the 2023 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans
Cadillac this week unveiled the Project GTP Hypercar, a model that anticipates the endurance racing prototype that will begin racing at the 24 Hours of Daytona next January. This hypercar, which will begin testing this summer in the northern hemisphere, is also guaranteed to participate in the 2023 edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This, which is Cadillac's first foray into 20 years at the La Sarthe circuit, includes aesthetic elements that bridge the gap with the American brand's street models, specifically the vertically oriented headlights and sharp lines. This racing prototype also has a tail fin, a prominent wing and floating blades.
The engine is an all-new 5.5-liter V8 block with two overhead camshafts that includes the LMDh-category hybrid system. The chassis will be the work of Dallara specialists.
Cadillac will measure its strengths next year against strong brands such as BMW, Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini and Acura, among others.
Although they are away from Le Mans, Cadillac Racing has had a remarkable performance in the recent DPi-V.R., winning the Daytona 24 Hours four times in a row and winning the IMSA three times in the last five years, for example.
