The new Fiat Scudo is already on sale in Brazil, in two versions (electric and diesel)
The van, which has just been launched in Europe, arrives in versions with a diesel and electric engine. According to the brand, the diesel models are assembled in Uruguay. In turn, the electrical configuration is carried out in France. Deliveries start in the next few weeks and suggested prices start from R$ 187,490.
This is the table of the entry version, called Scudo Cargo. It has no windows and focuses on cargo transport. Scudo Multi is intended for the transformation segment. The bodywork is the same as the Cargo. However, the rear compartment is glazed and electrical wiring is provided. That is, there is no need to drill holes. In this case, the table is R$ 192,490. Finally, the Cargo eScudo is priced at BRL 329,990 (local currency).
The new Fiat Scudo arrives to occupy the space between Fiorino and Ducato. According to the brand, the first has a cargo compartment of 3.3 m³. In the large model, there are versions with a capacity of 8 m³ to 15 m³. Therefore, with 6.1 m³, the new utility is between the two veterans. In this sense, the diesel versions of the Scudo can carry up to 1.5 tons of cargo. In the case of the shield, the capacity is 1 t.
Expanding market...According to Fiat America South America vice president, Herlander Zola, the market is expanding. According to him, since the beginning of the pandemic, the logistics sector has grown by 400%. Likewise, businesses linked to e-commerce grew by 150% in the same period.
"Therefore, there are good opportunities for the Scudo. It can win a good share of sales. As is the case with Fiorino and Ducado", says Zola. It is worth mentioning that Fiat's compact model accounts for 38% of sales in the segment.
In turn, the Ducato, which has several versions, has a 40% share. According to Fiat data, in total, the van segment registers, on average, 65,500 sales per year in Brazil. According to brand estimates, in the first year of sales the goal is for the Scudo to conquer 10% of the license plates.
Scudo can enter shopping malls...According to Fiat, the Scudo is 1.94 meters tall. That is, less than the 2.10 m allowed for entry into shopping malls and supermarkets, for example. Therefore, it is a good advantage over large models, whose height is around 2.30 m.
In the same sense, access to the rear is 1,282 mm wide by 1,220 high. As well as the opening of the doors has an angle of 180º. In addition, there is a sliding side door. These features facilitate the task of loading and unloading the van. The cargo compartment is 2,800 mm long.
In turn, the Multi version can be transformed into an ambulance and food truck, among other types of application. As it is glazed, it is a good option for passenger transport. For now, the shield is only available in a payload version.
30.5 mkgf turbodiesel engine...According to Fiat, the distance between the axles is 3,275 mm. And the total gross weight (GWP) is 3,225 kg on the Cargo version, 3,214 kg on the Multi and 3,055 kg on the eSCudo.
In the entry and intermediate versions, the Scudo has a 1.5-liter turbodiesel in-line four-cylinder engine. Power is 120 hp at 3,750 rpm and torque is 30.5 mkgf from 1,750 rpm. The transmission is always a six-speed manual. According to the brand, with this set the range of the new model can reach 800 km.
The equipment list is extensive. Among the highlights are electronic stability (ESC) and traction controls, brakes with ABS and ASR brake distribution and ramp-start aid. As well as the Start&Stop system, which switches the engine off and on again at stops, such as traffic lights, for example. In this case, the objective is to reduce diesel consumption.
Comfort for driver and passengers...The cabin has a good finish and several comfort items for the occupants. There is air conditioning, driver's seat with height and depth adjustments, armrest, automatic cruise control, electric windows, locks and mirrors and sound with Bluetooth connection.
The eDucato electric version is even more complete. The multimedia system with a 7-inch touch-sensitive screen draws attention. In addition, the instrument panel is digital, there is a camera at the rear and automatic activation of the windshield wipers and headlights. In both the Scudo and the eScudo, the various storage compartments add up to 41.5 liters of capacity.
Electrified version...Escudo uses the same modular platform, called EMP2, as e-Expert, from Peugeot, and e-Jumpy This is because the three brands are part of the Stellantis Group. Therefore, these models share several technologies.
In any case, the shield has 75 kWh lithium-ion batteries. In other words, its autonomy reaches 330 km in urban use. According to Fiat, in road use, the model can run up to 237 km without recharging. The electric motor generates a power of 100 kW, or about 136 hp. In addition, the maximum torque of 26.5 mkgf is delivered instantly.
