TESLA

Elon Musk's brand driver assistance system is more efficient than those of the Korean giants: Hyundai and Subaru

The American Automobile Association (AAA) has tested driver assistance systems (limited autopilot) on Tesla, Hyundai and Subaru vehicles, confirming that they are indeed capable of preventing accidents or mitigating their consequences. Tesla's system proved to be the best of all.

As part of a series of tests, AAA engineers selected three car models for which they prepared four scenarios: overtaking a car moving in the same direction; overtaking a motorcycle traveling in the same direction; frontal collision at a speed of 40 km/h; collision with a moving cyclist. Test subjects were Hyundai Santa Fe, Subaru Forester and Tesla Model 3.

Hyundai and Subaru vehicles successfully coped in the first two tests, which analyzed scenarios with a car and a motorcycle moving in the same direction, while Tesla's electric vehicle also detected the danger of a frontal collision in the third test, decelerating to 5 km. /h before it happens. But cars from Korean and Japanese manufacturers, faced with the threat of a head-on collision, still gave way.

Tesla has not commented on the test results. Hyundai said it is reviewing them as part of its "commitment to customer safety". Subaru said it is reviewing the testing methodology and is not yet ready to comment in detail. However, they noted that the EyeSight driver assistance system has been improved on the Forester 2022 model. At the same time, it was the Subaru Forester that could not handle the task of a moving cyclist, while Tesla and Hyundai cars detected it in in a timely manner and managed to slow down.
