Tesla começa a aceitar pré-encomendas de camiões semi elétricos

Company starts accepting pre-orders for its electrified truck

Tesla, for various reasons, delayed the start of sales of the electric semi truck introduced in 2017. It appears that the launch of the Semi could happen as soon as Tesla starts accepting pre-orders for the trucks. Those wishing to become its owner must make a deposit of US$20,000. At the same time, the production start date, which is expected to be released in 2023, has not been delayed.

Tesla announced the electric truck in 2017. At the time of the presentation, it was said that it could go up to 800 km without recharging. It also reported support for fast-charging Megacharger, the ability to accelerate to 100 km/h in 20 seconds, and a 36-ton payload. The Semi starts at $150,000, making it a viable solution for companies interested in long-distance transportation and lower emissions.

As with the new roadster, Tesla was unable to start deliveries of the Semi as originally planned. As a result, the start of production has been delayed several times, most recently due to global chip shortages and a lack of production capacity for battery cell production. The opening of the Semi's bookings suggests that customers will inevitably get electric trucks and likely won't have to wait that long. Also, Tesla's competitors in the segment, such as Nikola and Freightliner, have so far failed to make significant headway with their electric trucks, meaning the automaker could delay the launch of the Semi.
