ABB has started installing 360kW electric vehicle charging stations in Norway

The Swedish-Swiss company ABB started installing charging stations called ''Terra 360'' in Norway – as you can imagine from the name, its power reaches 360 kW. The first of these stations appeared in the country's second largest city, Bergen, as well as in the Norwegian ski resort of Geilo.

ABB explained that the Terra 360 supports simultaneous charging of up to two cars, distributing power dynamically and reaching a value of 360 kW, which, according to the manufacturer, is enough to fully charge an electric car in just 15 minutes. ABB's head of electric mobility, Frank Muehlon, noted that Norway sets the world standard in the transition to electric transport.

That's hard to argue with: there are now more than 600,000 electric vehicles in the country, and Sweden has already caught up with its neighbor. And by 2025, Norway aims to be the first country in the world to sell only electric vehicles. With the help of local energy company Eviny, more than 400 high-power plants have already been installed at more than 150 sites across Norway.

The most powerful charging station in Europe has been installed in the Spanish province of Biscay, at the Ugaldebieta road service station, located on the busy A-8 motorway. The facility, built by Spanish power operator Ingeteam and German chipmaker Infineon, went live in October 2019 – the station produces up to 400 kW. That's enough to charge an EV battery to 80% in just 10 minutes, Infineon said. Of course, if the machine supports such power.
