Google has announced a new version of Android Auto, whose user interface is adapted to screens of different types, sizes and orientations. The corresponding update will be available to users later this year.
One of the most notable changes is that Android Auto has a split-screen interface by default. Previously, it was only available on some car models. It is hoped that this approach will make it more comfortable and easier to use the main functions of the platform, such as navigation, multimedia system and messages.
“Previously, we had a different screen mode available on a very limited number of vehicles. Now this feature will be available regardless of your car's screen type, size and shape, and this is a very, very exciting update," said Rod Lopez, Senior Product Manager for Android Auto.
Android Auto is also known for adapting to any type of touchscreen, regardless of size. This change is highly relevant as it is not uncommon for car manufacturers to be creative with their infotainment display. Google said that the new version of Android Auto will fully meet all requirements, regardless of the screen and size used in the car. The new version of Android Auto is expected to be available to end users later this year.
