MITSUBISHI MOTORS REGRESSARÁ À EUROPA COM O COLT EM 2023

COLT: the brand's concept utility that arrives in Europe in 2023

Mitsubishi continues to show interest in Europe and its markets. The last example of this was the announcement, in the form of a teaser, of its flagship utility, the Colt, a vehicle known in the Old Continent, as it was on sale there for several years.

But it is also recognized worldwide, because the first model with this name was born 60 years ago. The new Colt will be unveiled mid-year and will be equipped with the latest technology and a wide range of mechanics, including a hybrid version.

With the announcement by Mitsubishi Motors, the arrival of the new Mitsubishi Colt for 2023 will significantly expand the market coverage of the Japanese brand, which with the Space Star, the recently announced ASX and the Eclipse Cross PHEV, will compete in the main segments of the European market.

Before, we referred to the Colt name and its tradition within the Japanese company. It was first used in 1962 and used in countless later generations, leading the small utility vehicle to be one of the most recognizable names in the three-diamond brand.

The previous generation, which was also manufactured in Europe, sold over 400,000 units on the European continent between 2004 and 2014. The new Colt will offer complete equipment and will include the latest technology, with an attractive propulsion system offering that includes a hybrid version, and will be manufactured at Renault's plant located in Bursa, Turkey.

Like the new generation ASX, the Colt will be based on the CMF-B platform of the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, and is very likely to use some of the technology of the future ASX 2023 crossover.

Frank Krol, President and CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Europe, commented: "The brand's offering will increase dramatically in 2023 with the addition of the new Colt and the recently announced ASX, which join the current Space Star and Eclipse Cross PHEV."

“The name 'Colt' is synonymous with Mitsubishi Motors' long history in the B-segment. We look forward to writing a new chapter in the history of Colt and our brand in Europe,” concluded Krol.
