PEUGEOT
Brand presents new automatic transmission control
Leaders in 2021 of the European market in all segments and in the B-SUV segment, respectively, the Peugeot 208 and Peugeot 2008 will be equipped, from now on, with a new, more elegant, ergonomic automatic gearbox control. and easier to use. Farewell to the old lever: the new control consists of an elegant push-button perfectly integrated into the center console.
This evolution of the transmission control is not only restricted to the combination of the thermal engines with the automatic transmission EAT8, but also the Peugeot e-208 and e-2008, with 100% electric motors.
Adopting an efficient and modern design, the new gearbox control frees up space in the center console. Its integration is perfectly adapted to the environment of the PEUGEOT i-cockpit 3D of the 208 and 2008 models, in a subtle mix between technology and ergonomics.
The materials used show a high quality, thanks to the combination of satin chrome elements, piano black and a carbon look in the wrist rest area. The finishes are among the best standards on the market.
Covering all engines, electric and thermal with automatic transmission, this new command allows you to select, on impulse, the different modes:
-Reverse (R), which allows you to engage reverse gear,
-Neutral (N), which allows you to place the vehicle in neutral,
-Drive (D), which allows automatic selection of the eight gear ratios depending on driving style, route profile and vehicle load.
Two complementary buttons activate the functions:
-Parking (P), for placing the box in 'parking' mode,
For thermal engines, pressing the Manual button (M) allows you to manually select the gear engaged, thanks to the fins located behind the steering wheel; for electric motors, the Brake button (B) allows regenerative braking to be activated.
-Regardless of the selected function (R, N, D, P, M or B), an indicator light comes on to signal its activation. The driver can be informed of the triggered mode through a presentation in the instrumentation cluster.
All versions of the 208 and 2008 equipped with this new control are equipped with an electric parking brake, which combines greater comfort and free space with ease of daily driving.
Regenerative braking command on electric models e-208 and e-2008
With regard to the e-208 and e-2008 versions, the two 100% electric models in these ranges, the M button (Manual) is replaced here by a push command B (Break), which allows for increased energy recovery when slowdown:
-If mode B is not activated, deceleration is moderate when the driver lifts his foot off the accelerator; the feeling of deceleration is close to that of an internal combustion vehicle equipped with an automatic transmission;
-Deceleration increases when push 'B' is activated, deceleration is accentuated when the accelerator pedal is released and energy recovery is also greater.
In an evolution of this function, the Break mode (B) remains active from now on even after pushing the lever (without stopping the engine) on the lever (during a manoeuvre): there is no need to activate it again in a new start, remains active, keeping the driver's driving parameters in memory.
