Iveco apresenta o Hi-Way movido a biometano e gás natural no Brasil

Brand presents its gas-powered Hi-Way line

Palácio do Planalto, in Brasília (DF), was the stage for Iveco to make the first appearance of the Hi-Way truck(image above). The model appeared in a version powered by biomethane and natural gas. Thus, the manufacturer begins to accelerate with the promise of bringing the gas line to Brazil.

In any case, the natural gas heavy truck debuted at the signing of the decree for the Special Incentives for Infrastructure Development (REIDI) for biomethane. And the launch of the Methane Reduction Program.

Iveco President for Latin America, Márcio Querichelli, believes that biomethane will become an increasingly viable fuel option for transporters. Mainly because of the great production potential of this type of gas in the country. "In Europe, we are leaders in the segment. And now it's time to implement Iveco's technology", completes Querichelli.

Presence of Iveco on gas in the region...It is worth mentioning that, in Latin America, the brand has already sold more than a thousand gas vehicles. Among the highlights is the Hi-Way CNG (compressed natural gas). Model equipped with FPT Cursor 13 engine, from FPT Industrial. In addition, there is also Hi-Way LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas). The truck also has the FPT Cursor 13 engine. Thus, both trucks should debut in Brazil soon.

But according to sources within Iveco, the brand is still studying to bring gas technology to the S-Way truck. The model is the most high-end of the brand. It is marketed in Europe. Here, it is estimated that the S-Way will be launched at Fenatran. Event scheduled to take place in November this year. However, initially, the top of the line from Iveco would arrive with a diesel engine. Thus, meeting the P8 (Euro 6) standard.

The director of marketing and product portfolio of Iveco, Bernardo Brandão highlights that in the second quarter the manufacturer will start the assisted operation in key customers.

Thus, consolidate the development of the product powered by biomethane and natural gas. Created specifically to meet the main cargo transport operations carried out in the country. "This is an important step for our Brasil Natural Power program. The program has several strategic partners to jointly develop natural gas. And, above all, biomethane as an operationally competitive fuel for the carrier", explains Brandão.
