Company delivers first electric bus units in Taiwan
Foxconn's ambitions in the new electric vehicle market are pushing the company towards the target of 5% of the global market, which it will occupy by 2025. Rival Luxshare's ambitions to take the lead in electrical contract manufacturing do not scare Foxconn, judging by management's comments. Yang Liu even welcomes the emergence of competition, explaining along the way that for the foreseeable future, the industry will inevitably experience a wave of consolidation, and only competitive market participants will remain in it until 2025.
Foxconn also confirms that partnership plans with US-based Lordstown Motors remain in place. The Ohio plant, which Foxconn bought for its own use, will begin mass production of Endurance electric pickups in the second half of this year. Overall, Foxconn aims to control up to 5% of the global market for electric vehicle components and outsourced manufacturing services by 2025, and by 2026 it expects to increase its own revenue in this area to $35.6 billion.
