ABARTH FABRICARÁ O 1000 SP EM UMA TIRAGEM LIMITADÍSSIMA

Abarth will manufacture a limited-run roadster

Abarth presented its new 1000 SP Concept, a roadster that was designed by Argentine Rubén Wainberg and Italian Roberto Giolito.

The novelty is that it has now been confirmed that it will go into production, but only five copies will come to light. They will cost around 200,000 euros each, according to Auto Italia Magazine.

This is the Scorpion brand's first own project in several decades and is inspired by the Abarth 1000 Sport Prototipo, a light and powerful convertible that Carlo Abarth commissioned from Milanese engineer Mario Colucci in 1966.

For those who don't know, with this model Abarth competed in endurance races of its time and won the 500 kilometers of the Nürburgring with German Hans Hermann at the wheel. So we are talking about an iconic vehicle in the history of the manufacturer.

This 'tribute' Abarth has an open 'barchetta'-style body and has reminiscences of the original design, such as the stepped cockpit windows, exposed safety bars, the centrally positioned tailpipe and reduced-size taillights.

This new Abarth 1000 SP is built on the carbon fiber chassis of the Alfa Romeo 4C and shares its same structure: it weighs just 1,074 kg. Under the hood we find a 1.75-liter gasoline engine, with 4 cylinders and turbocharger, which develops 240 hp of power. It will begin to be manufactured this year in Turin, Italy, with the collaboration of authorized partners.

Rubén Wainberg, is an Argentinian based in Italy, being one of those responsible for this 'jewel'. He was born in 1972 in Buenos Aires and is currently head of design at Abarth for over a decade.

We can say that Wainberg created the aesthetic that defines the spirit of the Scorpio brand in recent years. Wainberg has been defined as being "the most Abarthist of the Abarthists".
