ESCUDERIA BWT ALPINE F1 TEAM REVELA O A522, SEU SURPREENDENTE CARRO DE FÓRMULA 1, PARA ABRIR UM NOVO CAPÍTULO NA CATEGORIA

The new single-seater BWT Alpine F1 is presented for this year's season with new engine and chassis

The BWT Alpine F1 Team officially unveiled its new single-seater A522 today in Paris, ushering in a new era of excellence and success in Alpine motorsport ahead of the start of the 2022 FIA Formula 1 World Championship season. Alpine, which is now associated with the emblematic pink color of BWT, a company that was recently announced as the team's titular partner in 2022. The BWT Alpine F1 Team also surprised by making the reveal with an 'inverted' decoration, where pink stands out as main color. This unique look will be used for the first two races on the calendar, to highlight the collaboration with its titular partner, the BWT company.

The presentation of the second F1 car in the history of the BWT Alpine F1 Team was made by Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine, Luca de Meo, CEO of the Renault Group, and Otmar Szafnauer, the new director of the team. Pilots Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso were also on hand to unveil the long-awaited A522. The team is aiming to make further progress in 2022 with the new look, following Alpine's solid first campaign in Formula 1 last year.

From now on, the technical departments of Enstone (UK) will be led by the experienced duo formed by Pat Fry, Chassis Technology Director, and Matt Harman, Technical Director. In France, Alpine recently appointed Bruno Famin as CEO of Alpine Racing in Viry-Châtillon, to optimize the integration between chassis and engine and ensure the transfer of innovations from the track to the street.

People at both plants have worked hard over the past 18 months to design the A522 based on the radical regulatory change, which takes effect in 2022. Collaboration between the two plants was essential to bring the A522 to life. In addition to a completely revised and unprecedented chassis, the team is proud to present the RE22 engine, opening a new chapter in the French manufacturer's rich legacy in F1. The specifications and dimensions of the engine block offered much more freedom in the design of the body, to better exploit the new technical regulations and adapt to the new E10 fuel, which marks another step on the path towards sustainable fuels in Formula 1.

The BWT Alpine F1 Team will continue with the same driver pairing. Esteban Ocon - who has already won his first Grand Prix - starts his third year running with a Renault engine, while Fernando Alonso starts his historic twentieth campaign, setting a potential record in Formula 1.

Promoted by the Alpine Academy, Australian Oscar Piastri will be the team's official reserve driver in 2022, having won the title in the FIA Formula 2 Championship last year.

Esteban and Fernando will be behind the wheel of the A522 tomorrow during filming at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, ahead of pre-season testing later this week.
