Brand new extra-heavy model has new 12.4L engine and ramp start assistant
Since last December, anyone visiting the Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus dealership network has already seen the first units of its newest model: the VW Constellation 25,460. The vehicle debuts a series of novelties in the road portfolio of the best-selling family in the country. Among them, the new version of the Constellation features the MAN D26 engine, of 12.4 liters, to deliver 460 hp, the most powerful in the line for this operation. And the cabin offers even more comfort items for the driver.
To complete the powertrain, the manufacturer developed a new calibration on the Traxon automated transmission, with 12 speeds, aimed at road applications. This 6x2 traction model has a maximum towing capacity of 70 tons and a configuration tailored to the robustness and economy that are already the hallmarks of Volkswagen's extra-heavy line.
The cabin, already recognized by the market for its high level of comfort, gains more attributes: cabin suspension with four pneumatic pockets bringing a differentiated level of comfort. The model also comes with a seat belt integrated into the driver's seat, a solution that adds even more comfort to the driver. It still has the factory-mounted air conditioner.
“The VW Constellation 25.460 is the latest example of the ‘the less you don’t want, the more you don’t need’ concept that enshrined the Volkswagen extra-heavy family with the launch of the Titan Tractor. And it adds the evolutions over this period: all units of the model already leave the factory with the RIO connectivity platform to provide telemetry and the consequent operational gains”, highlights Ricardo Alouche, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Services at VWCO .
New steering system...At the same time, the VW Constellation 25.460 maintains characteristics of the VW extra-heavy line, which has already conquered the market since its launch in 2020. The set is designed to provide the best performance and the lowest fuel consumption. to the vehicle. In addition to performance, the models are also distinguished by the added comfort of a completely new steering system to smooth the experience behind the wheel.
With a wheelbase of 3,600 mm, the model is equipped with a metal suspension, custom-developed to better adapt to the Brazilian operating reality. Two 470-liter fuel tanks make up the vehicle to streamline operational logistics, ensuring great autonomy. The extra-heavy VW also has a tank for 100 liters of Arla 32, the largest capacity in its category, which maximizes productivity by avoiding the need for refueling during the trip.
The Constellation 25.460 is also packed with on-board technology, such as the rear axle differential lock and tilt sensor to adjust rpm and improve fuel consumption. Eco-roll, on the other hand, takes advantage of inertia when possible and places the transmission in neutral in a safe and controlled manner, bringing significant results in reduced fuel consumption.
Maneuver mode controls speed and does not allow gear shifting, thus providing a smooth start without jerking. The kick down, on the other hand, downshifts when you step on the accelerator, increasing engine speed for better performance for safe overtaking. Finally, EasyStart is Volkswagen Caminhões' ramp-start assistant.
Versatility...With the new Contran resolution for 6x2 tractors, the new VW Constellation 25.460 takes on even more applications, being able to operate with four-axle or bi-train implements, in addition to three-axle semi-trailers, achieving a total gross combined weight. of up to 58.5 ton.
