VINFAST

A VIETNAMITA VINFAST DESEMBARCA NA EUROPA

Vietnamese brand lands in Europe

Vinfast has just landed in Europe. From January 5th, the first vehicles that will be available during the month of March with 100% electric mechanics and an interesting cost/benefit ratio can be booked in France, Germany and the Netherlands.

The Vietnamese company will offer VF8 (previously called VF32) as an access step. It is a large crossover measuring 4.75 meters in length and 1.90 meters in width that will stand out for its spacious cabin. For those looking for something bigger, the VF9 (formerly VF33) also lands, which grows to 5.12 meters in length.

The specs are still not very clear. The entry-level versions are equipped with a 353 hp electric motor, while the most powerful go up to 408 hp. The downside is that the battery will be offered on a rental basis, something that has never been well accepted in Europe.

Vinfast's idea is to sell the VF8 and VF9 with battery on a rental basis to guarantee the correct functioning of the set. If the capacity is reduced to below 70%, the user can request the exchange for a new one. This solution has been unsuccessfully tried by Renault, so it is unknown if it will work in this case.

The new models arrive loaded with equipment for both comfort and safety. Highlight for LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision alert, traffic signs reader, 11 airbags, alloy wheels, electric and thermal seats, leather upholstery and independent automatic climate control.

Other elements included are the overhead camera, blind spot object monitor, light and rain sensors, sound system with navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, etc. Also available are the semi-autonomous driving package with remote parking, automatic lane change assistant, etc.

The suggested prices seem competitive considering the size and what they offer, but it remains to be seen how much they will cost with the batteries on property. In France the VF8 starts at 43,350 euros without incentives, while the VF9 starts at 59,150 euros.
