MERCEDES-BENZ
Mercedes' new bus line offers a 450hp engine
They are called Tourrider Business and Tourrider Premium, and are the latest luxury vehicles from Mercedes-Benz with a powerful 450 hp engine. These are two buses designed exclusively for the North American market and built to be the business class and premium in ground transportation.
Both models measure almost 14 meters in length, including the energy-absorbing bumpers. The space for passengers inside is enormous, even for those who require a wheelchair, thanks to an elevator and two spaces for people with reduced mobility.
Inside the Mercedes-Benz buses, we find very comfortable seats. The Tourrider Business features Mercedes-Benz Travel Star Eco seats, while the Tourrider Premium is equipped with Travel Star Xtra seats upholstered with more luxurious upholstery. They are the best seats for buses by the German brand, which is the largest manufacturer of bus seats in Europe. To guarantee comfort on board under any weather conditions, it has a 35 kW air conditioning system.
Companies that operate with Tourriders will be able to opt for a series of optional equipment, such as fabrics, colors, decorations, stitching and other types of luxury seats. Passengers also have two USB and 110v inputs on each of the seats. And for night trips, there are LED lighting strips under the trunks and window bases, as well as an optional panoramic roof for those who want to gaze at the stars.
To power the buses, the brand has developed an inline 6-cylinder engine that, while it doesn't seem like an impressive number of cylinders, has plenty of capacity. No less than 12.8 liters that allow the driver to have 450 hp and 2,300 Nm of torque. Thanks to the work done to improve the vehicle's aerodynamics, consumption is not high.
And like a good modern Mercedes-Benz, it is equipped with the latest security and driving assistance systems from the German home. It has a Sideguard Assist safety assistant with pedestrian detection, which warns the driver of moving objects, people and cyclists, adaptive radar cruise control and automatic emergency braking, among others.
