JOGGER: A CHEAP, HYBRID FAMILY CROSSOVER
Dacia is set to revolutionize the affordable family car market. For this, it presented a new and interesting model that will soon expand the Romanian brand's product offer. After a lot of blatant photos and also official advances, the new Dacia Jogger is already in Europe. The expected replacement of Logan MCV and Lodgy is a reality.
The new Jogger will land in the European C-segment with clear arguments. It will be available in 5 and 7 seat versions. It is destined to play a prominent role and proof of this is that the Jogger is positioned as the fourth pillar on which the Dacia line rests. In addition to being a cheap car, it will have versatility, practicality and breadth. The brand claims to have combined the amplitude of a people carrier with the design of an all-terrain vehicle. The result is a striking familiar crossover.
In terms of aesthetics, the new Jogger does not present any great surprises, since it is based on the new Dacia design language that we can already find in models like the Dacia Sandero Stepway. And more, it seems to be that this 'crossoverized' version was one of the references taken by the company to give life to this new model.
The front part stands out for its characteristic Dacia grille, which is flanked by optical groups where LED technology was used for the lights for daytime traffic. They are lights that outline the striking luminous signature in the form of a Y letter. The hood is horizontal and well carved. The side view brings out your more adventurous side. We should mention both the plastic guards that protect part of the body, as well as the roof bars. In addition, the free height of the body in relation to the ground reaches 200 mm.
Ending the exterior tour from the rear, lights appear in a vertical arrangement to maximize the width of the tailgate. Another characteristic feature is the roof spoiler. In addition, it has Flex Wheel wheels.
As for the interior, we are surrounded by a familiar environment. Is that again there are references to Sandero. The Romanian brand's designers sought to maximize available space and create a versatile cabin with different configuration options. It is necessary to consider the objective audience the new Jogger is aimed at.
As we previously highlighted, it will be available in 5 and 7 seat versions. The seating arrangement is 2+3 and 2+3+2 respectively. Depending on the level of finish, there will be a greater or lesser amount of equipment. For example, trays for passengers in the second row. The third row seats are individual and there is an armrest.
In order to access the third row of seats, the brand opted for a tilt mechanism for the seats in the second row. Dacia ensures that the available head and legroom in the third row of seats are among the best 7-seater cars and can be used by adult passengers. There are numerous spaces for storing objects distributed throughout the cabin. The total cargo volume of these spaces is 24 liters.
As for the mechanical part, there are several points to analyze and that reflect the direction taken by Dacia in this area. The new Jogger will not be available with diesel engines. The brand dispenses this fuel for a model with these characteristics. The central pillar of the offer will be the new 1.0 liter TCe petrol engine with 3 cylinders. It develops a power of 110 hp and 200 Nm of maximum torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission and a front-wheel drive system.
Dacia's new model will also bet on bifuel technology. And more specifically in LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). It will be possible to configure the new Jogger with the 1.0 liter ECO-G engine with 100 hp and 170 Nm of maximum torque. It is also paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive. It will be the most affordable option on the line. On the other hand, and not least, quite the contrary, the new Jogger is proud to be Dacia's first hybrid car. The Romanian manufacturer is finally betting on auto rechargeable hybrids and does so under a very important premise. Offer the most affordable family hybrid on the market.
In the year 2023 there will be a great revolution in the Jogger line and in general in Dacia. The reason is that the idea of seeing low-cost hybrid cars on the market will materialize. The brand will introduce the hybrid version (HEV) of the Jogger. It will be the first hybrid Dacia on the market. What's more, the company itself warns that it will be the cheapest 7-seater hybrid car that can be found in European dealerships.
The Jogger's hybrid propulsion system will consist of a 1.6 liter gasoline engine and two small electric motors. All this will be handled through an automatic transmission and a 1.2 kWh lithium-ion battery will allow you to enjoy a short autonomy in 100% electric mode.
