THE NEW RANGER LINE IS OFF THE ROAD THAN EVER

Ford engineers are already working on a new generation of this globally popular pick-up, the Ranger. But it is clear that before replacing the current model, the Dearborn brand wants to please its customers with a special version designed for more intense off-road use. In reality, it is an optional package called Tremor that is aimed at the most adventurous customers.

Available in XLT and Lariat finishes with SuperCrew 4x4 configuration, the Ford Ranger Tremor does not incorporate major aesthetic changes, as it differs only in small details, such as a modified front grille, two towing hooks for the rear and specific graphics in red and black tones. The pick-up also has protection plates for the lower parts and specific 17-inch wheels that are inspired by the Ranger Raptor.

They are fitted with robust tires designed for off-road driving, specifically the 32-inch Continental General Grabber A / TX, which increase the ground clearance up to 24.6 centimeters, that is, 2 cm more than in the Ranger SuperCrew 4x4 standard. To compensate for this height, the brand introduced stirrups with an innovative design that help when accessing the cabin.

Regarding the interior, the pick-up is distinguished by having specific seats, white seams and a series of details in black tone, without forgetting the buttons located at the top of the panel with six switches. They aim to control the energy of half a dozen accessories that can be attached to the Ranger Tremor, such as winches, auxiliary lights and air compressors, for example.

The off-road skills of the American pick-up have further improved thanks to the presence of Fox 2.0 monotube dampers, specially adjusted for the occasion. Thanks to its presence, the suspension travel on the front axle increases to 16.5 cm, and 20.5 cm on the rear axle. There are also hydraulic stops, optimized front springs and rear spring bundles that allow greater wheel travel, not to mention the stabilizer bars that have reduced their stiffness to improve Ranger's comfort in terrain far from the asphalt.

The Ranger Tremor has improved off-road capabilities, as its angles have changed slightly, with the entry point being the most prominent at 30.9 degrees, while the ventral is 25.5 degrees and the exit is 24.2 degrees. This translates into an improvement over the 2.2, 0.1 and 2.7 Ranger SuperCrew 4x4 respectively.

The one in charge of bringing this pick-up to life is the well-known 4-cylinder, 2.3-liter turbo-powered engine that can be found in other Ford products such as the Focus ST. It is an EcoBoost mechanic that develops 270 hp of power and a maximum torque of 420 Nm, appearing coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission that is supported by a total traction system with electronic locking of the rear differential.
Ranger Tremor offers owners the opportunity to select from 4 driving modes through the Trail Control system. The brand also adjusted the traction control system to achieve greater motor skills in difficult terrain, such as gravel. In addition, the pick-up has a payload capacity of 650 kg and can tow up to 3,400 kg.

The price of the Tremor package in the United States is $ 4,290. The plant in charge of its manufacture will be located in Wayne, Michigan, and the first units will be available in the first quarter of next year.
