PEUGEOT

EXCLUSIVE: The first images of the brand's new compact SUV

The second generation of the Peugeot 3008 entered the scene in 2016. Its presentation caused a lot of interest, as this model would leave its pseudo-minivan past behind to transform itself into an authentic compact SUV. Now, the time has come to receive a facelift, a half-life update that will allow this generation to face the rest of the commercial life ahead.
Although it has not yet been caught in broad daylight, it is well known that the project is underway and very advanced. Proof of this is the leak that happened and that reveals both the exterior and interior design of the new 3008. The images that are running like gunpowder over the network and that can be seen below, were extracted from the latest version of the NAC multimedia system.
After suffering several delays, this facelift is ready to be introduced in the second half of 2020. The design, of course, is already ready. The truth is that the deadlines set for its debut and landing at the dealerships had to be adapted because of the coronavirus pandemic.

As it is a facelift, the aesthetic changes will not be excessively radical. However, and in this specific case, adopting the characteristic features of Peugeot's new design language will give the feeling that we are facing something more than a simple mid-cycle update. The grille will be redesigned and will debut new headlights with LED technology where vertical LED lights for daytime running will simulate the 'fangs of a lion'. The bumper will also be subject to changes.
Although we cannot take a look at the rear, the lanterns are also expected to be renewed as well as the bumper. In addition to all this, new customization options will need to be added, such as body colors and wheel designs.
Regarding the interior of the new Peugeot 3008, the news will be evident. The most striking element will be the new touchscreen that will crown the center console and that will allow the use of the new infotainment system. The instrument panel will also be updated and will remain digital in the most equipped versions.

The mechanical offer will not be much different from that used by the current model. The new Peugeot 3008 will be accompanied by a selection of petrol and diesel engines. The plug-in hybrid version will continue to be available and it will also be possible to choose between a front-wheel or full-wheel drive configuration. And depending on the engine chosen, there will be a manual or automatic transmission.
In this respect, the big news will be the expected high performance version. The new Peugeot 3008 PSE which, with a plug-in hybrid mechanics, will surpass 300 hp. It will hit the market to face CUPRA Ateca, among others.
As for its arrival on the market, as we noted previously, the debut of the new 3008 is scheduled for before the end of this year. The order book is expected to open in certain markets in November or December. Now, to find the first units at the dealerships, it will be necessary to wait 2021.
