DUCATI

Panigale V4R with the Lego platform

Ducati produces fabulous bikes, but the Panigale V4R is its most exuberant model. Conceived as a competition bike, approved for driving on the road, it assembles a 998 cc engine, from which Italian engineers extracted 221 hp. Or 234 hp, if the customer chooses the Racing Kit, which turns a brutal motorcycle into a monster.
In addition to the power increase, the Panigale V4R with the kit also cuts a few kilograms by weight, as the original and “lean” 172 kg drops to 165.5 kg. And this sets the power / weight ratio to 1.41 hp / kg, a value that in the model without a kit is fixed at 1.21 hp / kg.
The relationship between Ducati Panigale V4R and Lego started with the production of a model for Lego Technics, with 646 pieces, aimed at children over 10 years old, marketed for € 59.99. But recently, a specialist in Lego Tecnics, Riccardo Zangelmi, has raised the bar considerably.
Zangelmi's aim was to combine the V4R's effective frame and spectacular engine with a body made from Lego parts. With 15,000 Tecnics parts, which took 400 hours to put in place, Zangelmi designed the Panigale V4R fairings, without using screws or any type of glue. But the rest of the bike was left untouched.
The presentation of this “toy” for adults was entrusted to Andrea Dovizioso, Ducati's official Moto GP rider. Given the replica built in parts, the pilot was convinced that the result would be as stunning for children as for adults, who are more aware of what that frame and engine can achieve. For our part, we would just like to know from what speed those parts, connected without glue or screws, will withstand the tremendous pace that Panigale is capable of imposing. See how the Lego V4R is born:
