DODGE

DURANGO SRT: THE MOST POWERFUL SUV IN THE WORLD

Taking advantage of the introduction of its seven-seater SUV update, Dodge presented what is now the most powerful crossover in the world. It is the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat and as we can deduce by its denomination, it is equipped with the engine of the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. A powerful supercharged 6.2 V8 block that for this occasion produces 710 hp and 874 Nm.

Thanks to this extraordinary power and other factors, the Durango SRT Hellcat is a monster capable of taking an entire family from 0 to 100 km / h in 3.5 seconds and reaching a top speed of 290 km / h. It is data (power and acceleration) that place this Dodge ahead of much more expensive SUVs, such as the Lamborghini Urus and the Bentley Bentayga W12, with 650 and 635 hp respectively.

The new Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat is not the first FCA SUV to receive this engine. The first was the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, but it delivers a little less power: 707 hp. Either way, like the Grand Cherokee, this more radical Durango is fitted as standard with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission, which works alongside a four-wheel drive system to ensure the greatest possible traction capacity.

Just like the mentioned Jeep model, the more powerful Durango has a suspension more in line with its mechanical performance. The 20-inch wheels are fitted with Pirelli Scorpion Zero tires and feature a Brembo brake system with fixed six-piston calipers at the front with 401 mm diameter ventilated discs. At the rear there are also fixed brake calipers, but with four pistons, which bite 351 mm discs.

Visually, the almighty Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat differs from its line brothers in several details. It changes the design of the front air intakes, has an additional deflector in the front, shows a special air inlet on the hood, features a larger airfoil on the rear cover and displays generous double exhaust vents. And inside, you benefit from the latest update of Durango, adding elements such as heated and ventilated seats with Nappa leather upholstery and a markedly sports steering wheel with fins for gear changes.

What we don't know for now is how much this muscular SUV will cost. It will be on sale in the United States next October, and we will have more details as this moment approaches. What is certain is that it will only be available for one year, after which Dodge considers eliminating it from its catalog.
