Felipe Nasr will not be competing in the first stage of the 2020 IndyCar season in Texas this weekend. Carlin, the Brazilian team, will participate in the race with just one car due to the “economic impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic in Europe”.
Conor Daly is in charge of oval racing with car # 59 and will take part in the race in Texas, while former F1 driver Max Chilton will be in charge of the other events.
In a Twitter post, Carlin said it still intends to run both entries for the remainder of the 2020 IndyCar season - with 14 events scheduled.
The team would have Nasr in car # 31 at the original opening of the season, the March race in St. Petersburg, which has been postponed and now remains the final round of the new calendar.
“Due to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in Europe, Carlin's # 31 car will not participate in the opening of this weekend's NTT IndyCar Series season at the Texas Motor Speedway. We will continue to work with our partners in Europe and look forward to running both entries for the remainder of the 2020 season. Conor Daily will represent Carlis this weekend in the Genesys 300 as originally planned in car # 59 Gallagher Carlin Chevrolet, ”published the team in its twitter.
