THE NEXT UNITED STATES ULTRALEVE INFANTRY TRANSPORT VEHICLE

The ISV project by GM Defense, the newly created defense division of General Motors, had been one of the three finalists in the contest held by the American army for its next ultralight transport vehicle. Contest in which numerous experts had presented in addition to the major American manufacturers, including Ford and the FCA Group, which presented slightly modified versions of the Ford Ranger and Jeep Wrangler Unlimited.

In the end, the General Motors project surpassed the other two finalists, Oshkosh and Flyer, so that the new US Army ultralight transport vehicle will be the spectacular and radical GMD ISV, acronyms that correspond to General Motors Defense Infantry Squad Vehicle and that for now it is the name of this spectacular military off-road. Its aesthetic seems to be taken from a Hollywood film.

The vehicle presented by GM Defense was one of the most radical not only for its striking aesthetic, but for concept. Since despite being based on a street version - which means lower costs - it has an excellent off-road performance, it is highly configurable, it can mount artillery and according to the chosen configuration, it is able to accommodate up to 9 passengers with all your equipment.

One of the most striking aspects of GM Defense's ISV is that it is really based on a street model and is therefore cheaper to produce. Despite its tough appearance, this brutal military vehicle is actually a Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. According to the brand, it has 70% of the parts of the street model, including its 2.8-liter Duramax diesel engine that delivers 189 hp (186 hp) and which is coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and suspension system with shock absorbers. High-performance Multimatic DSSV.

According to the original specification, the ISV should be able to “get into a Boeing Chinook CH-47 and be light enough to be transported by a Sikorsky Blackhawk UH-60 helicopter”. This vehicle is based on the Colorado stringers platform, but its entire body was removed in order to offer multiple configuration possibilities, depending on the task to be performed, whether as an infantry transport, supply or rescue vehicle.
