TRANSIT: THE NEW TRAIL AND ACTIVE VERSIONS

The SUV style is a formula that has worked for over a decade. The customer is looking for tall vehicles, with a robust and adventurous design, with an elevated driving position and a large interior. That is why manufacturers dare to implement this solution in other types of vehicles, as in the case of the newly released Skoda Octavia Scout 2020. They even transfer it to vans and vans, as is the case with the new Ford Transit and Tourneo, that debut Trail and Active versions.

In addition to adopting the robust style, both vehicles have some off-road capabilities when equipped with the intelligent all-wheel drive system. More specifically, the Transit Trail offers this all-wheel drive option, while the Transit Custom Trail front-wheel drive and the Transit Trail rear-wheel drive include a limited-slip mechanical differential (mLSD) as standard. This component is optional on Transit Custom Active and Tourneo Custom Active.

Aesthetically, the Trail and Active versions of the new Ford vans are easily recognizable by the robust appearance of the exterior. In the case of the Active option of the Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom, they show new bumpers, additional plastic coating on the wheel arches, side skirts, rear bumper and rear view mirrors, in addition to which it displays a Signature Active grille with a new standard, longitudinal bars on the roof and exclusive 17-inch alloy wheels. In addition, the Active name can be read on the rear and front fenders.

Inside, all models with the surname Active have mixed leather upholstery on the seats, while the Tourneo Custom Active also adds blue details to the instrument panel. The line will be expanded later this year, with the arrival of smaller models, Transit Connect Active and Tourneo Connect Active.

On the other hand, the new Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail have an even more robust appearance, courtesy of the letters 'Ford' from the matte black grille inherited from the Ford Ranger Raptor. An additional coating was also applied around the bumpers and side panels, Trail logos on the front doors and a set of 16-inch alloy wheels. For greater versatility, Transit Custom Trail models can also equip longitudinal bars on the roof and side stirrups.
Within the Trail versions, some specific changes were also implemented, such as the standard leather seats, the air conditioning, the folding rear-view mirrors, the automatic lights and the Quickclear thermal windshield.
As for the engine range, customers will be able to order the new Ford Transit and Tourneo in Trail and Active finishes along with the 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder EcoBlue diesel engine with three different power levels: 130, 170 and 185 hp. The Transit Custom Trail also offers 48-volt Mild Hybrid technology in any of the three mechanical options mentioned above, while manual and automatic transmissions are offered in all versions. The version with the mLSD differential is only available with the manual transmission.

On the other hand, all Transit Trail and Transit Custom Trail models are available in closed and double cabin bodies; while the Tourneo Custom Active is available with a short chassis body and up to eight seats. In the case of Transit Custom Active, in closed body or double cab versions, they are offered with both short and long chassis.
