Tesla may reopen its only US car factory in Fremont, California, starting this Friday, Bloomberg reported, citing an email from the company to its team.
The move comes a day after California allowed state manufacturers to resume operations, attracting an enthusiastic "Yes !!" on Twitter by Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk.
Musk, who recently became a father, has criticized the shutdown and quarantine orders, calling them "serious risk" for US companies, even labeling them "unconstitutional" and saying that such orders are not would stand before the US Supreme Court.
Musk said Tesla plans to restart its Fremont plant this Friday afternoon, according to a Bloomberg report.
Despite this, the shutdown in Alameda County, where Tesla's factory is located, is scheduled to last until the end of May. Therefore, according to a county order, the Fremont plant cannot operate regularly.
Thursday's California order does not replace the county plan, Alameda sheriff's spokesman Ray Kelly told Reuters on Thursday.
The Fremont plant ended its operations in mid-March, after stoppages were imposed to contain the spread of Covid-19, which has already infected more than 3.8 million people worldwide. by Ayanti Bera
