FORD
So will the future RANGER hybrid PLUG-in 2022
A recent Australian Press report that revealed the composition of the complete mechanical line of the next generation of the Ford Ranger and Ford Everest. This report not only detailed the different engines that will be available in the Australian market, but also the biggest surprise of the future 2022 line of these mid-size models from Ford, its future plug-in hybrid version.
Both models are currently being developed by Ford Australia and although Everest is an exclusive product for this market, Ford Ranger is a global product and most of its novelties affect the rest of the markets where the medium-sized pickup is available. So these first leaked data related to the Australian market are extrapolable to models from other markets, including novelties of design, line and its possible release date.
The recreations that appear in the images are works of the Australian publication Car Expert, also responsible for the information that allegedly reveals the composition of the Ranger 2022 line. This rendering series is based on the alleged leaked image of the future generation of the model, which was also released by an Australian publication in 2019. On that occasion, we could see what appeared to be a prototype of the new Ford Ranger, a natural-scale model that relied on the forms of the new pick-up and which had served as a sample during a private presentation.
These renderings adapted the new features of that prototype of a production version of the current Ranger, adding small details that will surely be present in the definitive production model. As is the case with the future Ford Ranger PHEV 2022, which will feature the charging jacks on the front wheel arches.
One of the main features of the new version of the hybrid plug-in is that you will not use any of the sets of hybrids that we can find presently on-line for Ford, as is the case with mechanical, electrified the new Ford Kuga, Ford Explorer, and in its place there will be a mechanical unit is completely new, consisting of the block is the 4-cylinder EcoBoost 2.3-liter combined with an electric motor, and a member of the automatic transmission 10-speed. According to this report, the total power of this new plug-in hybrid mechanics will be 367 hp and 680 Nm of maximum torque. Regarding its release, for now there are no precise dates, but the same report assures that the new line will be available as model 2022. If we consider that the latest PHEV versions of the brand were released simultaneously with the rest of their respective lines, we can expect the new Ford Ranger to count on this plug-in hybrid version from the very beginning of its commercialization.
