FERRARI

F50 GT ON THE ARABIC CIRCUIT OF YAS MARINA

There are cars so exclusive that they are only available to the lucky few in the world. Its production and price are usually so exclusive that the experience of enjoying the wheel of one of these engineering works is not an option for most mortals. However, there is always the option to enjoy this experience in a video, a way to experience the feeling of being behind the wheel of one of these vehicles. On this occasion we will take a few laps on board a Ferrari F50 GT at the Yas Marina circuit without leaving home.
The headquarters of the Abu Dhabi Formula 1 Grand Prix is a magnificent circuit, where driving with the magic of the night a vehicle as special as the Ferrari F50 GT and its naturally aspirated V12 engine, in addition to the spectacular sound that emanates from the engine is something single. Perhaps many have never heard of this version of the F50. This is due to the fact that the project was canceled before the car even competed.
In 1995, Ferrari launched the F50 as the successor to the mythical Ferrari F40 and to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the company's founding. A year later, Maranello's engineers developed the F50 GT racing car with GT1 specifications - in fact, it is also known as the F50 GT1. For this, they partnered with engineering companies such as Dallara and ATR with the purpose of producing three copies.
The Ferrari F50 GT was created to compete in the BPR Global GT series, where race cars derived from production models participated. This championship would be replaced by the FIA GT Championship in 1997. After creating the F50 GT, Ferrari decided not to participate and the competition was contested between vehicles such as the Porsche 911 GT1 and the Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR.
The decision not to participate was made on the basis that the company at that time was focused on Formula 1, so that only the first three copies of the F50 racing were actually assembled.
The F50 GT looks a lot like the street model on which it is based, but it differs by the air intake on the roof and the large rear wing. Equipped with a 4.7 liter, naturally aspirated V12 engine, a block powered up to 750 hp instead of the 520 hp offered by the street version. It appears coupled to a 6-speed sequential transmission, being able to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and reach a top speed of
375 km/h. Watch the vídeo.
