FERRARI

Ventilador pulmonar projetado pela FerrariBrand creates pulmonary fan model and opens design

Known for tradition in motorsport, Scuderia Ferrari has used the experience of its technical area to design a new model of versatile pulmonary fan and that can be produced on a large scale. The project was born from a partnership with the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT) and is called "FI5", gathering the initials of the Maranello escuderia, the institution and the number of weeks needed to develop the prototype.
According to Ferrari, The Fan, an essential item for Covid-19 patients, is easy to handle and able to"optimize oxygen consumption". The project is "open source", that is, it can be produced by anyone, and some Italian and foreign companies (Mexico and the United States) have already contacted the escuderia.
The prototype was installed last week at the headquarters of the IIT, in Genoa, and has already passed all the tests. Connected to research centers across Europe, the institute will disseminate the lung ventilator project on the IHL-Hero network, dedicated to the application of robotics in health.
According to a statement from Ferrari, the team engineers did the design and designed the pneumatic and mechanical parts of the appliance, while the IIT provided the materials and took care of the electronics and software.
