1962 police Ferrari is on sale in Europe

Although supercars transformed into vehicles still impress many people, it is not today that sports models are used by the police forces of the world. But they rarely end up playing as active a role as this 1962 Ferrari 250 GTE 2 + 2 with a 3999 chassis, which is advertised for sale on a European website.
According to the announcement, the sports car, equipped with a 3.0 hp V12 engine with 240 hp, was one of two produced to order by the police of Rome (Italy) for use in high-speed pursuits. Only four policemen were trained at Ferrari to drive the sports cars, but one of the cars was lost a few weeks after delivery. The 3999 chassis car ended up being the only remaining Ferrari in the fleet, remaining in operation between 1963 and 1968.





Auctioned in 1972, the sports car had a peaceful life after retirement, spending its days in a private collection and in the police museum. Also according to the announcement, this Ferrari is the only "civilian" car authorized to run in Italy with its colors and equipment from the times of police vehicle.
Along with the car, the buyer takes all the technical documentation of the factory and the times with the police, in addition to period images and a certificate proving the authenticity of the sports car, issued by Ferrari itself in 2014. 



The car appears with a mysterious warning of “ price on request". But just to give you an idea, a copy of the same color, year and version was sold at an auction in 2017 for 460 thousand euros (about R$ 2.7 million in current values-Brazil currency).
