Company says 2021 A6 Avant turbo plug-in hybrid can exceed 50 km/l

Audi is doubling down on hybrids and electric vehicles these days.
If you take a look at their range, just about every model has some form of electric assist from mild 48-volt hybrid systems to full EV. Now, they have added another one to their stable in the form of the A6 Avant TFSI e Quattro PHEV.
This is Audi's first-ever wagon with a plug-in hybrid option, and it packs quite a punch under the hood. Not only that, the German automaker is claiming bold fuel economy figures for it as well.
Powering the A6 Avant TFSI e Quattro is a gas-fed 2.0-liter turbo engine that's paired to an electric motor that gets energy from a 14.1 kWh battery. The engine alone makes 252 PS and 370 Nm of torque while the electric motor puts out 105 kW (approx. 142 PS) and 350 Nm of torque. The combined output is rated at 367 PS and a whopping 500 Nm of torque. To that into perspective, this plug-in hybrid has more horsepower than the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 which produces 340 PS but torque is the same at 500 Nm. As for economy, Audi is claiming the five-meter long wagon can do as much as 52.6 kilometers per liter, which is more than double than the 2.0-liter diesel's figures according to the manufacturer. With its 52-liter fuel tank, the A6 Avant TFSI e Quattro has a theoretical range of up to 2,735 kilometers. If you want to go even further, you can drive this hybrid A6 Avant on pure electric power for up to 51 kilometers. With a standard charging port, the batteries in this wagon can be fully charged in two and a half hours.

For now, it's Europe that gets this model with North America and select Asian countries to follow. We're not expecting the plug-in A6 Avant to be offered here though. However, there might be a slim possibility of the sedan version being sold here. Source: Anton Andres
