2020 Strada GL, Cab & Chassis quietly introduced

Aside from expanding the Montero Sport range, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines has also done the same for their pick-up, the Strada. Unlike the Montero Sport, however, they announced it quietly. These variants are the GL and Cab & Chassis.
Prior to this update, those models still sported the pre-dynamic shield face of the L200. With the new update, all Strada variants are now aligned with the sharper-looking rest of the range. And interestingly, they have also dropped the L200 nameplate previously used for utility versions altogether and adopted a unified Strada for its pick-up line.
The Strada GL serves as the base model of the pick-up's crew cab body style. It is essentially the 'work truck' variant aimed for fleets that need pick-ups. The exterior treatment is basic with unpainted parts such as the side mirror, door handles, and fog light housings. Mitsubishi also deleted the rear bumper for the GL, just like last year's model.



But the biggest benefit of this model update is the engine. Out goes the old 2.5-liter turbodiesel from the previous-generation Montero Sport. It now uses the new 2.4-liter 4N15 MIVEC turbodiesel just like the rest of the range. With the new engine also comes a new transmission, replacing the five-speed manual with a six-speed manual. Power is the same as its higher-spec counterparts meaning this base Strada still puts out 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque.
Despite getting a new look, the single cab and chassis model does not get the new 2.4-liter MIVEC turbo-diesel engine. Instead, it is powered by a 2.5-liter Di-D turbo-diesel engine. Exact output figures were not revealed though we suspect it produces 136 PS with 324 Nm of torque. Power is then transferred to a five-speed manual gearbox.
