HONDA
Company now selling brand new S2000 parts
Last month, at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2020, Honda had two older models on display at their Modulo booth: the Civic Cyber Night Japan Cruiser based on the EK9 and the S2000 20th Anniversary Prototype. At the time, most people thought that these two were nothing more than one-off creations for the aftermarket show.
However, it seems that isn't the case, at least for the S2000.
For those who were hoping that the S2000 might return, well no. Instead, the Japanese automaker has launched a new batch of parts available for the open top-road to mark its 20th anniversary. The parts available are all based on the 20th Anniversary Prototype displayed at the show and developed by Modulo.
Probably the biggest part available is the new front bumper. Unlike the previous models, the new bumper is more rounded to help improve aerodynamics. It also updates the S2000's design to look a lot more modern as well. Though I'm assuming not everyone likes its design. Along with the bumper, there's a new ducktail spoiler available as well. Rounding up the exterior parts available are the new rear strakes.
Limited to only 500 sets globally are the new Sports Suspension kit for the S2000. Aside from lowering the car by 10mm, the suspension also offers dampening adjustment. As a result, it will help the roadster handle better both on the road and on the track. Another limited item is the audio lid cover with only 2,000 pieces being offered. Rather than just saying S2000 or Type S (depending on the model), the 20th anniversary logo is printed on the cover as well together with the car's silhouette.
Other items being sold by Honda include a new set of floor mats available in red or black and an LED illuminated footlight. To protect the interior and sunroof of your aging vehicle, a unique half cover is also on sale.
As for price, the front bumper alone costs ¥ 96,800 (Php 44,154) and comes unpainted. Meanwhile, the ducktail rear wing will set you back ¥ 46,200 (Php 21,000) and the rear strake ¥ 33,000 (Php 15,000). The most expensive part would be the suspension which costs ¥ 170,500 (Php 77,771). Meanwhile the Audio lid, floor mats, foot light and car cover costs ¥ 8,800 (Php 4,000), ¥ 30,800 (Php 14,000), ¥ 13,200 (Php 6,000), and ¥ 18,700 (Php 8,500), respectively.
The new S2000 parts won't be available forever. Honda says that the 20th Anniversary parts will only be on sale for a one-year period starting February 20, 2020, to February 19, 2021. All parts are made to order and will take about 4 months to deliver.
