The future of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class may be looking bleak, but it looks like it’s business as usual for the company’s commercial vehicles division (which builds the X-Class pick-up truck).
Despite Daimler considering to kill off the Navara-based X-Class, Mercedes-Benz released an all-new appearance pack for the pick-up truck. Simply called the ‘Black Package’, the new styling upgrade gives the X-Class a beefier and meaner look than standard.
From its namesake, the Black Package gives the X-Class black-painted sidebars, black-painted 18-inch twin-spoke alloy wheels, and a black-painted sports bar. As an added bonus, the special appearance pack also gives customers three choices of black bed covers; hard tonneau, roll-up, and soft cover. In addition, the interior also benefits from the new styling upgrade via an all-black headliner.

Interested in getting a Black Package X-Class? This is only available if you get the top-of-the-line X350 d 4Matic models in either Progressive or Power Edition variants. That means this blacked-out special is only powered by a turbo-diesel V6 that churns out 250 PS and a healthy 550 Nm of torque. Moreover, the Black Package is only available in the following exterior body colors: Black, Blue, Gray, Silver, and White.

First deliveries of the new Black Pack X-Class will begin in March 2020, although we’re not entirely sure why the company still approved on making a styling pack. With only a combined sales figure of less than 20,000 units since it was first released, the X-Class is not exactly a mass seller. This prompted Daimler’s apparent plan of axing the model altogether.

However, there are supposedly spy photos going around of what appears to be an extended bed version of the X-Class being tested in Europe. If these are indeed true, maybe Mercedes-Benz is banking on this particular version to boost sales, and perhaps give the X-Class a new lease on life.
Whatever the case may be, we dig the all-black finish of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class Package.
