FLAVIO BRIATORE: "MAX VERSTAPPEN MUST LEARN TO KEEP QUIET”
Flavio Briatore made some comments about Max Verstappen and acknowledged that the sometimes too sharp Dutch language brings unnecessary problems.
Max Verstappen is not in the habit of avoiding more controversial statements or avoiding more sensitive issues. This attitude has caused some annoyance and all you have to do is remember the episode where the young Red Bull pilot accused Ferrari of cheating, to see the repercussions that his statements may have. Briatore used this example to show that Verstappen has to learn to keep quiet at certain moments.:
“He is very fast, he knows how to improve constantly and many overlaps with others. But Verstappen must also learn to keep quiet. He could have avoided the accusation that they [Ferrari] cheated. First of all, it is not your responsibility to make such a statement. Second, the story was totally inaccurate."
Briatore also acknowledged that Verstappen's stay in Red Bull was a wise decision:
"It's a team that's always on the right track. But now that Honda is also a permanent force in the team, the uncertainty surrounding engine power and reliability also decreases. It's good to see him at Red Bull, where he's at the top and now he'll be there for a long time. However, Red Bull is also afraid of losing its partner after 2021".
The Italian also admitted that he liked to see Verstappen and Charles Leclerc on the same team:
"If I set up a team, I would definitely like to have Leclerc and Verstappen. These are two phenomena with which we could win all races and World Championships in the next ten years.'
