DAKAR 2020

STEP 11: with CARLOS SAINZ, WITH 10M17 TO MANAGE THE FINAL DAY

Frenchman Stéphane Peterhansel (Mini dune Buggy) won the stage, 10 seconds ahead of qatari Nasser Al-Attiyah (Toyota), Carlos Sainz (Mini dune Buggy) in third place in the 8m03s. The second-and third-placed teams from this Dakar rally have managed to significantly reduce the edge that sets them apart from Carlos Sainz, but the spaniard goes into the final day of competition with the advancement of 10m17s, for al-Attiyah and 10m23s to the Stage, and Fiuza. With a 200-mile special, it's not gonna be easy to make up for a lot of time, but as we know, anything can still happen.
There is not much time left for the final of the race so it was certain that today was almost all or Nothing Day for Nasser al Attiyah and Stéphane Peterhansel who attacked strong leader Carlos Sainz and the eight minutes difference prove it. Anyway, after the victory in yesterday's stage, taking advantage of the fact that Peterhansel and Attiyah were lost, this will eventually have been the key moment of this rally, as the margin instead of diminishing, grew and Sainz can breathe better today.
It was known that this would be a harder day for Sainz, because he left ahead, but tomorrow, Peterhansel and al Attiyah take off for the special first and second, and then it is Sainz's turn, so the Spaniard can better control the margin.
In any case, there is always the possibility of errors or mechanical problems. It wouldn't be the first time or the last.
Also curious is the fact that only six seconds separate Nasser Al-Attiyah and Stéphane Peterhansel in general. In this case, it will be a fight to the finish line. Today, the Frenchman won the tirade with a 10-second head start for the Toyota man.

Stage 11/trucks: ANDREY KARGINOV waiting for the consecration

Has yet to end but Andrey Karginov (Kamaz) is on the verge of securing his second triumph on the Dakar in the trucks. He triumphed in 2014, went to the podium in 2015, but from there he was 14th in 2016, missed in 2017 and 2018, left last year and is about to win this year.
Andrey Karginov won his sixth leg this year, beating Dmitry Sotnikov 1m27s with Anton Shibalov and Eduard Nikolayev (Dakar Experience) doing a 1-2-3-4 for Kamaz! He goes to the last day with 39m33s in advance for his teammate, Anton Shibalov, Siarhei Viazovic (Maz) is third at 1h52m14 and Ales Loprais (Prague) is fourth at 2h49m37s.
