DAKAR 2020

Stage 10, trucks: third victory for ANTON SHIBALOV
Anton Shibalov (Kamaz) today won his third stage victory in this Dakar, finishing the one-minute shot ahead of Dmitry Sotnikov (Kamaz) and 1m30s in front of a third Kamaz driven by Eduard Nikolaev. Andrey Karginov (Kamaz) finished 2m27s back and maintains a comfortable lead in the overall ranking. The Russian now has 36m08s advance to Shibalov (Kamaz), with Siarhei Viazovich (Maz) 1h04m further back in third place. Ales Loprais (Prague) is a room about 40 minutes from Viazovich so the main positions in the trucks should, if there is no great surprise, be defined. Step 10,

NASSER AL Attiyah: “it is not over”
Nasser Al Attiyah(image above) has known the Dakar for a long time and so what he said today at the end of the stage is true of La Palisse, but the Qatar pilot knows perfectly well that until the last metro there is hope. Today, the winner of last year's race lost almost 18 minutes to Carlos Sainz and was second in front of Stéphane Peterhansel, only for 16 seconds: "he was walking very well, without problems, we caught Stéphane (Peterhansel) and, at one point, we got lost, for two or three minutes. Then we got to waypoint and went the wrong way. We've done about 20 kilometers more than we should, but we've turned around and finished. We lost 18 or 19 minutes to Carlos (Sainz), but the race is like that and tomorrow is a long day. Carlos is gonna have to open the track tomorrow, and I'm gonna start at 17, so we need to make a good run. It is very difficult to exert pressure, but first we must make a good step. Nothing's over yet. There's still a long way to go tomorrow with 50 miles of dunes. Things are gonna be hard for everyone. Carlos will open it, and it won't be easy. But today, I'm a little disappointed.”
