Valentino Rossi, and another career challenge
The two motorsport stars are expected to switch vehicles next week at the Ricardo Tormo circuit in Valencia as part of a promotional event hosted by joint sponsor Monster Energy.
Six-time F1 champion Hamilton will ride Rossi's Yamaha after a test in December last year in which he rode a Yamaha R1m superbike.
"I'm so excited about that," Hamilton said last month. “Just being on the same track at the same time Valentino will be very, very surreal and a real honor, because he's an icon in the sport, and he's done a lot. It'll be nice to see you in my car too. ”
Rossi will be behind the wheel of the 2017 Mercedes W08 and made a seat mold this week, sharing social media images.
The Italian last tried out F1 engines almost a decade ago when he drove a 2008-spec Ferrari at the Barcelona-Catalunya Circuit in Spain, which sparked rumors that the Italian could switch to F1, though of course it never materialized.
MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi and Briton Lewis Hamilton will switch places on December 9 at the Valencia circuit in Spain. The Italian will drive Mercedes from the six-time F1 champion, who will drive the "Doctor" Yamaha YZR-M1. Rossi was present at Mercedes team headquarters in Brackley, UK, for the final adjustments of the W10 that he will drive. The Italian took the moment and posted a photo on his social networks:
"I think Lewis and I are going to have a good time soon."
I can't wait to get behind the wheel of an F1. I think it will be a very beautiful experience. I hope we get lucky with the weather and make it a beautiful day, because on December 9th, anything can happen. I'm very anxious.
It will be very beautiful, "wrote Rossi.
This will not be the first time Rossi will drive an F1 car. In 2004 and 2010, the Italian participated in some tests of Ferrari. At the age of 40, Rossi has won six MotoGP world titles, the last being in the 2009 season.
