No Exorcist Can Deal With Hennessey’s 1400 HP Twin Turbo Dodge Demon

The never-ending power war continues as Hennessey released the first video showing their latest HPE1400 Twin Turbo Dodge Challenger Demon being tested on the dyno.
That’s right, the supercharger is gone as Hennessey replaced it with a custom twin turbo kit but that’s half the story here; the 6.2-liter V8 engine is now fully balanced, blueprinted and enlarged to 7.0 liters (426ci) with the help of a stroker kit.
The V8 powertrain was upgraded with a billet stroker crankshaft, custom forged pistons and rods, ported and polished heads and a custom intake manifold where the supercharger used to rest. The ball bearing turbochargers now sit underneath the headlights, one on each side of the air-to-water intercooler.
Revisions on the chassis include a custom, one-piece aluminum driveshaft, a strengthened rear suspension, upgraded axles and more.

Hennessey claims that their twin-turbo Dodge Demon is now capable of 1,400 HP at 6,500 rpm and 1,192 lb-ft (1,616 Nm) of peak torque at 5,200 rpm at the crank and on race fuel. The dyno run on the video showed 1,237 HP and 1,076 lb-ft at the wheels on 20 psi (1.3 bar) of boost, which sounds pretty close to the above figures if you count the transmission losses.
It certainly feels weird to not have the traditional supercharger whine accompanying the roar of a Dodge Demon but the twin turbos do a great job at filling that aural void, plus you’re getting almost 80 percent more power, according to Hennessey’s dyno.
