Jeremy Clarkson leaves the jump because of Greta Thunberg
As climate change remains a topic of great discussion, especially when they join environmentalists and lovers of large cars with combustion engines. Greta Thunberg is a 16 – year – old Swedish woman concerned about the future of the planet, while Jeremy Clarkson is the most emblematic-and most likely the best paid-of television programme presenters, for her knowledge of the automobile industry and passion for outstanding vehicles.
In the recent past, Clarkson expressed her displeasure at Greta, while stressing the respect she has for scientists who, instead of complaining 'senseless or senseless', according to him, are fighting for solutions to help improve air quality.
Now Clarkson is back in charge, after an incursion into Cambodia, where she recorded another edition of the Gran Tour, which takes place on Amazon. In an interview with The Sun, he confesses that he made first-hand contact with the environmental changes there. But that does not stop him from continuing to regard the Swedish activist as an 'idiot, for continuing to go around saying that we are all going to die, which obviously does not solve the problem'.
In statements to the British newspaper, the popular presenter accuses Greta of being responsible for the fact that young people no longer like cars and (even) the end of the car salons, even though they went into crisis long before the “phenomenon” Greta.
The recent Asian incursion of the Grand Tour team led them to make a 800 km journey between Cambodia and Vietnam, on three different types of river boats and with a lot of bicycle in the mix. The option for the velocipedes was due to reduced precipitation, which drastically decreased the water level on the Mekong River. Because of climate change, Clarkson and her team had to find an alternative to make the connection between Cambodia and Vietnam. The presenter acknowledges that there is a serious environmental problem to solve, but continues to argue that the solution does not pass (only) by shouting and pointing the finger, as Greta Thunberg does.
