Electric cars with no drums getting closer
Nissan has concluded an agreement with the USP Institute for energy and Nuclear Research (IPEN) to develop a battery-free electric car! It should be noted that there was already a partner with Unicamp for the development of fuel cell ethanol!
Nissan and the battery-free electric car
The project is based on the premise of an electric car without batteries and with an autonomy of 600km consuming only 30 liters of ethanol! The prototype is already in testing and has been developed by Unicamp!
Now, Nissan has concluded a new agreement, but now with IPEN to develop a new fuel cell that can run on ethanol instead of hydrogen!
The nipónica company was the first to launch for testing the prototype of an electric car that works only from the electricity generated by bioethanol; since Brazil is essential for the development of this project, as well as its viability, because it already has an ethanol distribution network!
The first tests date back to 2016 and 2017, by Nissan's research and development team in Brazil! But now the project has been transferred to Japan, but always with the collaboration of the company's engineering team present in Brazil!
Application of Fuel Cell
Fuel cell technology is already used by several car companies, such as Toyota, Honda and Hyundai, but are powered by complex production, storage and distribution hydrogen!
If you want to replace hydrogen with ethanol, you get a clean, more efficient engine!
By running only with ethanol (100%) or water mixed with cane derivative, Carbone emissions are zero... it will be like a part of the natural carbon cycle!
It also has another advantage, allowing the lively acceleration and silent driving of an electric car. This e-Bio fuel cell makes it possible to reduce maintenance costs while at the same time having a higher range than a fossil fuel vehicle!
The prototype of the e-Bio fuel cell is fueled 100% by ethanol, carrying a 24 kWh battery, and range of more than 600 km!
Bioethanol sources
The sources of bioethanol are mostly sugar cane and maize. Since they are two foods already spread in North and South America, there are already infrastructures that allow them to be marketed and so are easy to buy!
Another great advantage of bioethanol is that as it is so easily found and a low fuel of water blended with ethanol allows the system not to be dependent or restricted by the existing charging infrastructures, which makes it easier to enter the market!
