Convert your diesel engine into an electric engine
In Portugal, there are already companies dedicated to converting combustion engine cars into purely electric models. However, their activity is limited by the difficulty / slow in obtaining approval for processing from the Institute for Mobility and Transport (IMT).
In France, the dynamics and costs of this process are going to be different (for the better), because only under these conditions can proposals such as Transition-One, which proposes to convert its old diesel into a 100% clean car. tram in just one day. How much? € 8,500, roughly the price of a new Dacia Sandero there.
With the conversion, the car has to register again. As it becomes an electric vehicle, the transformation cost drops to € 5,000, as a result of government incentives for more sustainable mobility. In return, the customer takes home their usual car, but not limited to access to certain areas. Instead, you may feel limited in range and agility of movement as the Transition-One conversion guarantees only 100 km of range and a top speed of 110 km / h. These are the official numbers, although retrofitting technology is being featured in a more appealing prototype: a 2009 Renault Twingo with a 120kg battery pack and a range of 180km.
The company has launched an advertising campaign for its services and demand has been such that the site has been simplified to answer the most basic questions and allow for the completion of a conversion pre-booking form with deliveries from 2020 onwards. Gallic startup founder Aymeric Libeau expects regulatory approval by the end of the year and plans to open the pre-order period in September.
For the moment, to simplify the process and reach a broader customer base, the company's focus is on city dwellers. Renault Twingo II, Fiat 500, Citroën C1, Peugeot 107, Toyota Aygo and Volkswagen Polo are, right now, the models that the French promise to convert at the aforementioned value.
