FORD

BRAND WILL REVEAL NEW HIGH PERFORMANCE CAR

After announcing that it will not participate in the WEC with the new set of regulations presented, Ford is preparing to unveil its new 'ultra performance supercar' at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Those responsible for the American brand have confirmed that the course presented is of no interest and that the focus now is on talking to IMSA officials.
The entrance of Ford in the American championship depends on the introduction of hybrid system in the new regulations, called DPi 2.0. For now, the history of Ford in the world of endurance stands still.
However, Ford will next month reveal an 'extreme' version of its GT GT GTE which may be a first step towards a future hypercar, although no direction has been pointed out by the makers of the brand. It may sound counterintuitive, but the truth is that Ford's future in racing is being thought in-house, there is a willingness on the part of the brand managers to go down the most 'electrified' road possible, and that was well understood when Ford was dissatisfied with the fact that the so-called 'DPi 2.0' foreseen for 2022 only considered a simple hybrid system, the so-called 'mild' hybrid system.
It remains to wait for the decisions, as there is still time for Ford to join Aston Martin and Toyota, already the only two brands that confirmed their presence in WEC 2010/21 with a hypercar, but for now this is not likely ... José Luis Abreu, de Portugal
